The suffix "HOLTER" comes from the name of the American physicist Norman Jefferis "Jeff" Holter (Helena, February 1, 1914 - July 21, 1983), which is known for having invented the Holter monitor, a portable device for continuously monitoring the electrical activity of the heart for 24 hours or more.
